Kyoto Station is made up of three floors

Kyoto Station Building is a large facility with 15 floors above ground and two basement floors, but to make it easier to understand the whole, it’s simple to think of it as being divided into the following three levels:

  • 🟦 Upper floors (2nd floor and above): Shinkansen platform, Kintetsu ticket gates, JR West Exit, Isetan, Hotel Granvia, etc.
  • ⬜ Middle floor (1st floor): JR conventional line platform, JR central ticket gate, city bus and taxi stands, etc.
  • 🟫 Basement floor (1st floor to B2nd floor): 1st floor Miyakomichi, subway ticket gates, Porta, underground free passage, Avanti basement, etc.
