Great news for those who use Kyoto Station!
Starting September 25, 2025, “colored line guide signs” will be installed at the Central and West Exit ticket gates of Kyoto Station, as well as on the floors inside the ticket gates.
Colorful floor lines make transfers smooth
Newly introduced are floor lines that are color-coded according to destination.
- Shinkansen ticket gate → Blue
- Bus stop → Orange
- Taxi stand (Karasuma Exit) → Gray
- Subway Karasuma Line → green
By simply following the lines drawn on the floor, you can easily find your way around the complex Kyoto Station without getting lost. This system is easier to understand intuitively than looking at guide boards, making it friendly even for first-time tourists.
